Artist statement
-
"COLOR
moves me to collect, organize and evaluate -
gathering objects that are all of similar hue but of unequal
value -
in fabrics, flowers, jewels and junk.
COLOR drives me to immerse myself in the play of paint
to create explosions of eye-candied paper collages.
My hands speak of COLOR and are stained in rainbows and speckled
prisms.
I find visual and tactile pleasure in layering my favorite materials
between COLOR on varied paper surfaces. Using a series of media
applications, I scrape, scratch and scribble with liquid resists
and waxes, pushing and pressing into the paper surfaces, mono-printing
in metallic inks, spraying and pouring in fluid watercolors.
Layers are masked with paper or plastic shapes, some salted or
peppered with pencil lines, some removed or altered simply with
water.
The result of my sequential media approach showcases textural
surprises and unique COLOR unions - the object is COLOR." |
